When a site is needed fast, we now usually recommend WordPress. But for some companies Wix Studio is still the best choice, and it is not a compromise. They do not need a system to look after every month. They need a site that works, looks good and that they can edit themselves. In this article we explain how we spot these projects in the very first conversation.
The short answer
Choose Wix Studio if you have nobody to maintain the site, if you change content often and do it yourself, and if the site is small and needs no complex integrations. The build takes a little longer than with WordPress, but after launch you do not have to think about servers, updates or security at all.
What Wix Studio is
Wix Studio is the Wix platform for professional websites. Compared with the standard Wix editor, it gives more precise control over the layout for every screen size, CMS collections for content and the option to add your own code. Hosting, SSL and updates are included in the Wix plan.
Five situations where we recommend Wix Studio
1. Nobody will maintain the site
If the company has no IT person and you do not want to pay for maintenance, Wix Studio is the safer route. The platform updates itself, and the site does not break just because nobody has touched it for six months.
2. You change content often and do it yourself
Menus, opening hours, special offers, new photos. In Wix Studio you edit them directly on the page, seeing the final result, not in an admin panel. We set up the site so that changing the text does not break the design.
3. The site is small and the structure is stable
Up to roughly 15 pages: services, about us, contact, blog. If you do not plan to add new sections every month, the slower build in Wix Studio is barely noticeable.
4. You need built-in tools
Bookings, forms, a blog, email campaigns, a small shop with online payments. In Wix Studio all of this is part of the platform, with no extra plugins that might one day conflict with each other.
5. Stability matters more than expansion
If the site has to run for years without surprises and you do not see calculators, a CRM or warehouse integrations in its future, you will most likely never feel the limits of Wix.
What you get after launch
- No server worries. Hosting, the SSL certificate and fast content delivery are handled by Wix.
- No updates. No core, plugins or PHP versions to keep track of.
- Version history. If you delete something by accident, the site can be restored to a previous version.
- Editing without a manual. You change text, photos and prices right where you see them.
- Sufficient SEO. Headings, meta descriptions, structured data, redirects and a sitemap are built into the platform. Results depend on structure and copy, not on the logo in the corner.
What to know beforehand
Wix Studio is not ideal for everything, and it is better to know that before you choose, not a year later:
- The build is slower. We set the layout for every screen size by hand in the editor. AI helps here with content, blog posts and SEO checks, but the site is built by a person.
- The Wix plan is your cost. You pay it directly to Wix, and Wix sets the price.
- The site cannot be moved. If you ever want to leave Wix, the site will have to be rebuilt from scratch.
- Integrations have limits. B2B pricing, accounting or warehouse sync and non-standard logic are WordPress territory.
Example: a café that changes its menu every week
Picture a small café in the centre of Riga. Every Monday the owner changes the lunch offer, on Fridays she posts an event poster, and once a month she adds new photos. The site has six sections, table booking and gift card sales. There is no IT person, and at 11:30 on a Wednesday nobody wants to wonder whether the form still works after an update.
This is where we choose Wix Studio. We agree the design in Figma, build the site in the editor, put the menu into a CMS collection, and in a one-hour training session the owner learns to edit everything herself. After launch she only writes to us when she wants something new. The example is made up, but projects like this are very typical for us.
How we build a Wix Studio site
- Design in Figma, agreed with you before we start building.
- Build in the editor with a precise layout for desktop, tablet and phone.
- CMS collections for everything that repeats: services, projects, team, menu.
- SEO basics: headings, descriptions, structured data and redirects from the old site.
- Training so you can edit content yourself, with the domain and Wix account in your name.
We are Wix Legend partners, so we work with the platform every day. More about that here.
When WordPress is still the better choice
- the site is needed very fast and will have many subpages;
- you need a calculator, booking logic or integration with another system;
- you are planning an online store with non-standard requirements;
- it matters that the site can be moved to any server.
We compare both platforms in our article WordPress or Wix Studio: why we now recommend WordPress more often.
Frequently asked questions
Who is Wix Studio the best choice for?
Companies that have nobody to maintain the site, that change content often and do it themselves, and whose site is small, without complex integrations.
How much does a Wix Studio website cost?
Our development starts from 600 € + VAT for a simple site. On top of that you pay for the Wix plan directly to Wix, but there are no server or maintenance costs.
Is a Wix Studio site good for SEO?
Yes. The platform has everything you need: headings, meta descriptions, structured data, redirects and a sitemap. Results depend on structure, copy and speed.
Will I be able to edit the site myself?
Yes, that is one of the main benefits of Wix Studio. You change text, photos and prices directly on the page, and after launch we show you how.
Can I move to WordPress later?
You can, but it is a rebuild, not an export. We carry over the design and copy and redirect the old addresses so Google loses nothing.
